Ordinary scenes shot at twilight take on extraordinary drama. You often wind up with results that are not discernible to the eye. Colors you don't even realize are there get etched onto the sensor.

Ordinary film is capable of recording the visible light spectrum. However, there's a lot of energy (specifically, electromagnetic radiation) out there at other wavelengths which our eyes cannot see.

In the extraordinary transition that has taken place as we evolve from film to digital, the lab, the mainstay of the photo community, is in the midst of a quiet revolution.

Rather than an ordinary side-by-side mom-and-daughter shot, pose mom and daughter nose-to-nose. Photography school graduates will tell you that a talent for creative posing is one of the most sought-after attributes any professional can have.

How about just ordinary candid people shots doing normal things indoors, nothing that require freezing the action?
It's still a challenge for all the reasons outlined above, especially the one about noise reduction at higher ISOs.

Look for the Extraordinary in the Ordinary
Take photos of the child doing everyday things like eating breakfast, elbows on the table, hair not yet combed; sleeping, curled up with a favorite animals or spread eagle, blankets off, ...

In ordinary tungsten lamps, the tungsten evaporates from the filament and settles on the glass and gradually darkens the bulb.

'Cha-Cha' Method aka Rock and Roll A method of stereo picture taking that involves using an ordinary camera and taking a picture for both the left and right views by shifting the taker's position from left to right.

Plus, the 15's extraordinary depth of field makes focus nearly irrelevant. Even at f/5.6 it is possible to preset the lens to be sharp from 3 feet to infinity.

You can use an ordinary slide film such as Fujichrome or Ektachrome if you have only a few originals that you want to duplicate. Grain is a problem, so use a slow ISO 50 film for best result. Normal films will give very contrasty duplicates.

The limits and guidelines above are derived from ordinary common sense.

Light: Possibly the most important element that can turn an ordinary photograph into a good one. You not only need the right quantity of light, but the quality and direction of the light are vital, too.

But if you want to turn the ordinary macro shot into an extraordinary photograph, try to add something of interest. What? How about a bee gathering pollen? Or a spider crawling inside? Or a butterfly?

The white-out conditions in (#5), for example, turned an ordinary tree into a work of art.

Aaron Rose once said, "In the right light, at the right time, everything is extraordinary." It seems to me that the most extraordinary pictures are those taken in natural light.

Now, there's an additional step to consider that can take your fireworks photographs out of the ordinary and make them extra-special. The burst of a skyrocket, by itself, is pretty. But it's not particularly interesting.

Although sepia film is not available for ordinary Polaroid cameras, there is a special 4x5 sepia film, Polaroid Type 56, that can be used with great success on a 4x5 view camera. You'll need a Polaroid model 545 back.

Photography is an art, which can fill your heart with the joy of having achieved the extraordinary. The most important criteria for becoming a good photographer is to have passion for taking pictures.

Ordinary digital cameras are fine to use simply because kids will be using it and you don't want the expensive digital SLR's to be broken now, do you?

If that's so, then it reasons that we should look at ordinary things and try to find the extraordinary in them. Perspective has a lot to do with this notion.

As with the Canon 1Ds Mark IV, the D3s offers extraordinary low-noise image quality at ISO 12,800. Continuous shooting is at 9fps, and the camera will capture 720p HD videos at 24 fps accompanied by stereo sound.

Traditional photography has been around for more than 150 years, and extraordinary work has been produced by hundreds of greats, including Kertesz, Adams, Weston (both Brett and Edward), Cunningham, Emerson, Sudek, Mark, Uelsmann, Salgado, Porter, ...

Ferocious Quarterly's tabs in the upper section of the site are a little out of the ordinary. The single fact that they are presented in a different way, creating an illusion of depth, makes the design stand out a bit.

Most of these lenses have extraordinary optics, like the legendary 105mm f/2.5 AI-S.

There are a number of methods for producing reverse-text slides, each starting with artwork consisting of ordinary black lettering (or drawing) on white paper.

It has happened to us all - the perfect motive turned to be just an ordinary photo.
You think of buying a new digital camera, but are confused by all the different brands.
Do you need a new camera?

With this method, it is possible to process even 20-30 megapixel images on an ordinary desktop computer within minutes. Other methods might require enormous amounts of memory and hours of time for calculations.

Entrust the digital camera to the kids, then ask them to sniff out ordinary objects to take photos of. Ask them to take the photos at weird, unusual, and otherworldly angles.

Close-up lens. An attachment placed in front of an ordinary lens to allow focusing at a shorter distance in order to increase image size.

Digital camera back for Large or Medium format cameras that can shoot a scene in one pass like ordinary film (not three like the RGB Scanning backs) can therefore be used with live subjects, not just still life.

Although this is negligible for ordinary lenses, it becomes increasingly important in lense specially designed for close distance photography.
