Photo Orientation: Vertical or Horizontal
Ever feel like you have fallen into a rut with your photographs? Here's one simple thing you can do to add some variety - employ both vertical and horizontal shots.

Orientation sensor - tags images as portrait or landscape depending on the orientation of the camera at the time the shot was taken).

Orientation of Camera: Horizontals vs verticals - if one doesn’t work, try the other. It may require a shift in position, but it also may be the solution to getting a better photo.

Orientation sensor. A sensor that knows when you turn the camera to take a vertical shot and rotates the picture so it won’t be displayed on it’s side when you view it.

Orientation - The direction of the length of an image (or a printed page); portrait has vertical orientation while landscape has horizontal orientation.

Orientation Sensor - A special sensor in some cameras that "knows" when your turn the camera in portrait orientation to take a vertical shot and "tells" the camera to display it that way later when viewed on the TV screen during playback.

This function, included in some cameras, recognizes a camera that is shooting in the portrait, or vertical, mode. That orientation data is stored with the picture, so it also appears vertically on a monitor or other display.

The middle orientation probably has a lot to do with the central focusing sensor of cameras and people's tendency to lock focus and then just shoot. I do the Nikon Shuffle of locking focus on the subject and then recomposing the scene.

Camera orientation. The camera's orientation depends partly on the scene that you are capturing. For most scenes the camera is mounted horizontally in landscape mode. This is easier to do and also requires fewer images to cover a scene.
