Orthochromatic ("correct colors") photographic emulsion is early black and white film emulsion, sensitive to wider range of colors than original color-blind (blue sensitive) emulsion.
ORTHOCHROMATIC or "Ortho" - (1) Representing correctly the relations of colors as found in a photographic subject. (2) A photographic emulsion sensitive to all visible colors except red - i.e. an ortho film is sensitive to blue and green light.
Orthochromatic Orthochromatic film, traditionally used for graphics, records either black or clear. Extremely high contrast. It is available in rolls and sheets.
Orthochromatic ( Ortho film ) Black-and-white emulsions that are not equally sensitive to all colours of light. They are more sensitive to blue and green, but not sensitive to red light. Films that can be handled under a red safelight.
Orthochromatic Term used to describe 'Black & White' emulsions that are not sensitive to red light, B&W printing papers are usually orthochromatic. (see Panchromatic) ...
orthochromatic (film) (1) photographic surface insensitive to red but senstive to ultraviolet blue, green and yellow rays; (2) electromagnetic wavelengths between 375 and 560 nanometers.
Ortho (Orthochromatic) Denotes film sensitive to blue and green light. Overexposure A condition in which too much light reaches the film, producing a dense negative or a very light print or slide.
Orthochromatic is used to describe an emulsion which is sensitive to blue and green light, but insensitive to red. Orth-phenylene diamene is a fine-grain developing agent.
Short for Orthochromatic - a high contrast film that's sensitive to all colour other than red and deep orange.
The four classes are as follows: colorblind (monochromatic), orthochromatic, panchromatic, and infrared. Some of these emulsions respond to a wide range of wavelengths of light. Others respond to only a narrow band of wavelengths.
Conversion of the industry from orthochromatic to panchromatic stocks was initiated by Kodak over the course of the decade.

11/ A safelight - printing papers are quite slow and orthochromatic, i.e., insensitive to red light at a distance. Keep the safelight at least four feet distant from the paper to reduce risks of fogging. Basic Techniques The Basic Idea ...
Antiscreen plates A photographic plate containing dyes that reduce the blue sensitivity. Used unfiltered, they can give results similar to those obtained with yellow filtered orthochromatic plates. Search SWPP and BPPA ...
Given that this film has an extremely low ASA of 25( I shoot it at about 12, or as low as my camera settings will allow) and that it is orthochromatic is it thereby less susceptible to degradation?
