Over-exposure in bright light
This shot taken outside on a very bright hot sunny day is a good example of the occasional over-exposure the cameras built-in metering system suffered from, this could be down to the pre-release model I had.

Over-exposure
Expression used to indicate that the light sensitive material has been excessively exposed. This can be the result of light that is either too bright, or has been allowed to act for too long.

(over-exposure)
Available Light
Night or available light situation usually suffer from extreme contrasts between dark and very bright spots (like street lights).

Another way to avoid under- or over-exposure for subjects with unusual reflectance is to use a spot meter: a reflected-light meter that measures light in a very tight cone, typically with a one degree angle.

INTENTIONAL OVER- or UNDER-EXPOSURE - Intentional over-exposure or underexposure is known as increasing or decreasing exposure. Many professional photographers will consistently underexpose (decrease exposure of) some slide films on purpose.

If you shoot in low light conditions and the camera signals you that the shutter speed and aperture size you chose will results with an over-exposure (a dark photo), consider using a higher ISO level (which is more sensitive to light).

-Solarization - reversal or partial reversal of tones in a photographic image caused by vast amounts of over-exposure.

The bleeding of signal charge from extremely bright pixels, resulting in over-saturated pixels. Blooming compares with over-exposure in film photography. Blooming can occur in the entire image or part of an image.

You've given me great ideas and more equipment to buy. I've been experimenting and always had issue with over-exposure and have little experience with filters other than a polarized. Can't wait to read more! ...

With AEB on, the camera will automatically take three shots for you: one at its determined exposure settings; a second one sightly under-exposed; and the third one slightly over-exposed. The amount of under- and over-exposure usually defaults to ...

A section on special techniques explores such options as deliberate under-and over-exposures, how to produce double exposures, bracketing, shooting the moon, and the use of filters.

- do yourself a big favor and wait for the right weather & light conditions, it will make all the difference to the final result. Your pictures will look so much richer and better for it. Plus, it will be much easier to prevent any over-exposure ...

light you want to have long exposure times (motion blur) or narrow depth of field and ISO is already at its lowest setting. You would manually set shutter speed, aperture and ISO and let the camera automatically pick a filter to avoid over-exposures.

recognizing them as an extremely reflective object in the background or as a highly reflective subject, smartly ensuring it by considering the distance information data provided from compatible EF lenses. The system similarly prevents over-exposure ...
