oxidation
the effect produced by contact with oxygen, either in the atmosphere or introduced in more concentrated form, such as drying in some screen printing inks or deterioration of photographic developers in open trays.

Slows down oxidation of the developing agent. Developing agents oxidise when exposed to air. Leave a tray of developer out overnight and note the change in colour from pale yellow to brown or dark brown if you leave it long enough .
Restrainer.

Photographic chemists distinguish sulfur compounds that contain sulfur with different oxidation numbers. "Active" sulfur compounds contain sulfur atoms with an oxidation number of -2. All other sulfur compounds are inactive.

For a while we suspected that the dark brown oxidation product of metol was the causative agent.

-Chromogenic development - process in which the oxidation products of development combine with color couplers to form dyes during processing.
-Chromogenic materials - color photographic materials which form dyes during processing.

Staining developer
A developer, such as pyro, in which the oxidation products give extra image density by staining the gelatin.

It will exhaust itself (by oxidation) in about two hours, so don't use the same developer longer than that.
Let others know when you get ready to change the developer.

the solder flows around components, is much worse then for conventional Sn-Pb eutectic solder.
This problem can be resolved to some extent through improvements in flux composition, and the use of a nitrogen atmosphere to minimize solder oxidation.
