The NTSC and PAL TV norms call for a compliant TV screen to display an electrically "black-and-white" signal (minimal color saturation) at a color temperature of 6500 K.

Many digital cameras have an analog video output terminal (NTSC or PAL) so they can be connected to a TV using standard input or video-in terminals.

YCbCr is a color model which was developed for the PAL television standard as a simple modification to the YUV color model. In the meantime, it has become the CCIR-601 standard for image and video recording.

Phase Alternating Line (PAL)

VIDEO OUTPUT- Some cameras have an outlet built-in that allows the user to attach a cable from the camera to a VCR or other video device that accepts NTSC (on in Europe, PAL) video signals.

NTSC
National Television Standards Committee. Standards for video broadcasting and recording in the US and Japan. PAL's the standard in Great Britain and the commonwealth countries. SECAM used in many countries in the European communities.

A number of digital cameras are fitted with a 'TV out' socket allowing the camera to be connected to a normal domestic television set (check standards! PAL/NTSC etc.). This can be useful for image review without transfer to a computer.

Video system lets you choose NTSC or PAL TV standard. The US standard is NTSC.
