These are the card slots found on modern laptop computers to enable the user to insert PC Cards. There are PCMCIA adapters for Compact Flash (CF), SmartMedia (SM), Secure Digital (SD), MultiMediaCard (MMC) and Memory Stick (MS) flash cards.
The Compact Flash can then be erased when the images have been transferred or are no longer needed, the card can be erased and reused. It also fits into a PCMCIA adapter eliminating the need to connect the camera to some computer systems.
