PCMCIA card. See PC Card.
Photosite. A small area on the surface of an image sensor that captures the brightness for a single pixel in the image. There is one photosite for every pixel in the image.

PCMCIA cards - Personal Computer Memory Card International Association cards are used to add functionality, such as an external hard drive or wireless capability, to desktop or notebook computers.

PCMCIA Card
Personal Computer Memory Card International Association card. PCMCIA cards are about the size of a credit card and these PC Cards have been developed to be a standard for hardware capability expanding devices.

PC Card ( PCMCIA Card)
PC cards are about the size of a credit card and were developed to be a standard for hardware capability expanding devices. PCMCIA cards provide an easy way to transfer photos from the camera to a notebook or desktop PC.

Older formats include floppy disks and PCMCIA cards. A few models support writing on to 3-inch CD-R/RW discs. Some low-end cameras don't have removable storage cards but instead have built-in flash RAM memory.

Most common type of storage card with identical contacts to PCMCIA cards (found on laptops).

WiFi connectivity limits tangling cables, and if you want to be free from carrying a laptop around, there are units that support USB connections and PCMCIA cards.

Since they are portable they can easily be taken with you everywhere you go.
Most of them have a PCMCIA slot, so it should be possible to transfer images through a PCMCIA card adapter from your memory card to a laptop.
