This is not so-called perspective distortion that results when the camera is tilted, but a true optical aberration that cannot be reduced by using wider or smaller apertures.

With careful perspective distortion of what were fairly small clumps of colorful sponge and soft coral, I did manage to come home with a few keepers from this dive.

A moderately wide angle lens gives a certain amount of perspective distortion, the first shot in particular makes her feet look very big in proportion to her head.

Lateral shift might be used to avoid lateral wide-angle perspective distortion that can cause convergence or divergence of lines, although typically lateral distortion is less of a concern in nature photography than vertical distortion.

The most well known feature of the award winning DxO Optics Pro from DxO Labs is its ability to correct perspective distortion, but this isn't what sold me on switching to it as my preferred raw converter.

A telephoto lens of 150-200mm will let you get far enough away to avoid perspective distortion of the wings.

It is wide enough to take a group photograph, but still long enough to take a three-quarter portrait of a couple without the unflattering effects of wide-angle perspective distortion.

28mm to 35mm focal length lenses are great for capturing more image area with minimal perspective distortion. The 24mm focal length can just be fit into this category too if you can accept a little more perspective lengthening.

Again, software comes to the rescue so you don't have to carry two lenses. You can remove a fish-eye's perspective in the Lens Correction filter, but it has to work hard to change that perspective distortion-work that's a little beyond its quality ...

A more elegant solution offer so-called "Shift" lenses which allow either to correct or stress perspective distortions. These lenses tend to be a little bit expensive for most mortals though and are usually used by serious architecture photographers.
