Pixelization
Pixelization refers to the process of blurring a portion of pixels within a frame to purposely distort an image.

The results in decompression of the files can cause "blockiness," the “jaggies," or " pixelization " in some digital images. The higher the compression ratio the more the pixelization or "blockiness" occurs.

The number of pixels in a digital image is important because if you enlarge an image enough, it begins to loose sharpness and eventually the pixels begin to show—an effect called pixelization.
Frequently I need to resize some pictures due to the fact that pixelization is becoming visible, with a terribble effect. Then with On One software
I can save a picture and even get a good portrait.
This helps smooth out jagged lines and it reduces the effects of pixelization that would otherwise occur if you printed a straight image file too large. It works best if you just want to add 50 percent more pixels to the original file.
