A port for connecting devices (i.e. computers, cameras, scanners, printers) using a serial cable. A serial port transfers data approximately 40 times slower than a USB connection.

Serial Port - Same as "RS-232" above.
Shutter - The physical device that opens and closes to let light from the scene strike the image sensor. digital cameras use both electronic and mechanical shutters.

Some SD cards have a clever feature where part of the card can flip up; this allows the card to be inserted into a USB port on a computer - images can be transferred to the computer without the need for a card reader or any special cables.
