Potassium iodide - chemical used in bleaches, toners and intensifiers.
Potassium metabisulfite - acidifier used in fixers and stop baths.
Potassium permanganate - chemical used extensively in reducers, bleaches and toners.

It was determined the iodide in the fixer (that was coming out of the fixed film) was producing the higher stability so microfilm fixers were sold with potassium iodide added.

It was then soaked in potassium iodide before being exposed in a camera. After the exposure, it was washed in a bath of hyposulfite of soda and dried. The resulting image was a unique photograph that could not be reproduced.

As a negative process, a piece of clear glass is coated with a very thin layer of iodized collodion (made from gun-cotton [nitrocellulose] dissolved in ether and alcohol, mixed with potassium iodide).
