Home made prints should be stored in binders or boxes since they can be prone to fading if exposed to direct (sun)light. For framed prints protective UV sprays are available and most manufacturers now use archival inks that should last for many years.

To prevent damage, never store photographic negatives and prints in storerooms, quonset huts, bilges and so on, where they may be subject to adverse conditions, such as direct sunlight, UV radiation, water, dampness, high humidity, ...

PrintRoom fares well against the reference prints with a noticeably brighter gamma. You'll probably find you need to darken your images a bit before printing to match your monitor.

Printer resolutions are usually specified by the number of dots per inch (dpi) that they print while images and display screens are specified by pixels per inch ppi.

My first pigment printer was the original Epson 2000P back in the year 2000. I suppose that's why they named it that now that I think about it. When printing on archival paper, its output was rated to last up to 200 years without fading.

A word of advice here, if you only want one or two prints a year, D.I. is not cost-effective - find someone who does hand-printed Cibachrome.

Over printed (or Overdevelopment)
Term indicating that the amount of recommended development has been exceeded. It can be caused by prolonged development time or an increase in temperature, and usually results in an increase in density and contrast.

Exif Print - Exif Print (Exif 2.2) is a new worldwide printer independent standard. Under Exif 2.

Laser print: A laser printer works in a fashion similar to a copying machine. It uses a laser to write an image on an electrostatically charged drum. Wherever the laser strikes the drum an electrostatic charge is created.

Note: Print films are very tolerant to wrong exposure while slide films require an accurate metering result.

A motion picture workprint that has received Timing to compensate for Exposure and color variations.

Date imprint: Many 35mm cameras will print the date on the negative. This date will also appear in your snapshots. You can usually opt to turn this feature off to omit the date.

Contact Print-A contact print is made by "contacting" the negative to a sheet of paper and exposing it. The result is a direct print that is the same size as the negative.

Contact Printer
A device used for contact-printing that consists of a box with an internal light source and a printing frame to position the negative against the photographic paper in front of the light.

Another print was made to evaluate the adjustments. It was decided that the overall image was a bit too dark. So, Curves was used to lighten the image (see Figure 19).

You can print, buy or in another way get hold of some colored cards, preferably light tones, but hard dark ones can create some interesting effects too.
To warm up your picture a bit, set the whitebalance on light blue.

RC paper
Printing paper that has a plastic, or resin coated, surface to speed up processing and offer a high gloss finish.
