Q) I have a Canon EOS D60 converted to infrared, but there's one problem.

One type of developer cannot cover all film exposure/processing situations.

The first step in finalizing the processing of your image is to establish your output settings on the Process tab.

Processing.
Process promptly. Your exposed film now holds an undeveloped 'latent' image and is now more susceptible to damage from poor storage so store it safely and have it processed as soon as possible.
Print film requires the C-41 process.

Processing with Photomatix
Photomatix is the perfect tool for combining these images into a single HDR image and then use Tone mapping to output them.
The software offers far too many options to cover them all at length.

Wet processing
Processing by the application of chemicals in fluid form. The traditional method of photographic processing.

Push processing is a term from photography, referring to a development technique that increases the speed of the film being processed.

Film Processing
The procedure outlined below assumes a steady agitation- three inversions in 5 seconds. Excessive agitation during development will cause excessive contrast. See the development chart for suggested times/developers.

Processing B&W
Once you get your images onto the computer comes the fun of bringing them to life. While you can make b&w conversions in Adobe Camera Raw (ACR), I prefer Photoshop for its far greater range of options.

Post Processing:There is an ongoing debate amongst many photographers. What's the preferred file type, RAW, DNG, TIFF, or JPEG? If you break the process down into 4 areas, each one of these files has a valid, useful purpose.

Push Processing: The technique of over developing film to compensate for intentional underexposure by the photographer. Commonly used to gain faster shutter speeds or greater depth of field than normally exposed and processed film will permit.

There are three information palettes, ten processing adjustment palettes and one for storing image processing settings. You can display or remove a palette by clicking on any button on the master palette.

POST PROCESSING
Photoshop, with its "burn" tool is your friend! Any spots on the background that don't come out dark enough can be "burned" just like the old days in the dark room, set the tool to burn only to the darkest shades.

Batch processing. Refers to a function or a series of commands being applied to several digital files at one time. This function is useful for making the same changes to a folder full of images.

I'm no expert in using photo editing software but there are numerous ways of editing a shot after you've taken it to get rid of distracting elements.

At processing, an index print is provided, containing small, numbered, 'thumbnail' representations of the entire roll of photographs. This makes it easier to choose photos for reprints and enlargements.

RAW processing brings out the best in a digital file. If the exposures are errant, it provides a degree of forgiveness but there is no substitute for capturing the best possible exposure at the time the shutter is pressed.

HDR processing is a solution for the inability that a digital camera tends to have in capturing a single digital image that contains the full tonal detail range-from extremely bright, to very dark shadow detail.

The Processing options dialog appears each time before the processing starts. You can either click Ok to proceed or change the options.
There are several presets designed for typical situations and purposes of processing.

When processing a Raw file the original remains untouched, changes are recorded separately.

C-41 processing and printing is offered at various times depending on the discount you desire, but generally does not go past 48 hours, unless again, a large number of rolls are dropped off.

Post Processing
Developing of the image, from Raw data or in camera converted file formats.. depending on the software used, many elements can be adjusted at this stage including, exposure, brightness, colour, saturation etc.

Image processing would be an extremely time consuming task if you were to do it manually. Luckily, Adobe Photoshop has an image processor built in to do all of the labor for you! ...

Cross Processing "
Cross-processing is developing color print or slide film in the wrong chemicals - for example, color negative film in slide chemicals ("C-41 as E-6″) or slide film by the color negative process ("E-6 as C-41″).

Cross processing is sometimes done because it yields interesting, albeit unpredictable effects. Contrast tends to be enhanced and colours tend to shift. Edgier fashion and commercial photography is sometimes done using cross processing.
