RAM: Random Access Memory. Fast computer memory. Expensive. The more RAM a camera has the quicker tasks can be carried out, and the shorter the delay between taking shots.

RAM - Random access memory; a computer's RAM holds data needed to run programs.
Real Life technologies - A series of innovative and user-friendly technologies designed by HP that makes it virtually impossible to take a bad photo.

RAM (Random Access Memory)
Chip based computer memory that stores temporary or dynamic data and instructions that can be accessed in any order.

RAM
Random Access Memory. The user can read and write data from/onto this type of memory. RAM is used to temporarily store both data and programs.

Memory (RAM): More is better. Windows XP can use up to 4 Gigabytes (GB), although personally I've never bothered to put more than 1GB in a machine since I really don't have huge Photoshop files very often.

RAM and Hard Drive
One way you can make everything run smoother and faster, is by adding more RAM ( Random Access Memory) to your system. I suggest at least 256 MB of RAM for most applications.

RAM: motherboards will either have two or three slots for memory. Modern applications are memory-hungry, so don't muck about! Get one 128mb chip to start and add more of the same.

How much RAM should you get? As much as your system and pocketbook allows. Although 512 MB may be enough to get the job done, it really becomes a question of how long you want to wait for it to do it.

1 - 1.5 G RAM ($300)
Avoid Windows PCs unless you already have one. Often it makes more sense to get an Apple iMac ($900 complete system + $280 for a gig of RAM) than to waste any money upgrading a Windows PC.

Add more RAM
If things still run slowly, you may be able to add more memory to your computer. The cost of doing so has steadily been dropping and you may be surprised at how affordable it is now.

These three devices are a 2-inch video floppy disk, a hard drive or Random-Access Memory (RAM), and an integrated circuit (IC) card or chip. In the 198Os, the still-video camera was introduced in the Navy.

If you buy a top of the line computer with maxed out RAM but use it only for email, I question the purchase. If you buy a home theater yet stay glued to a shopping network, I question the purchase.

The storage card in a digital camera is it's film, it's the removable storage device which holds images taken with the camera (a few low-end digital cameras don't have removable storage cards but instead have a built-in flash RAM unit).

7GHz clock, 16GB of RAM, two internal hard drives and eight external hard drives (with a total of 3TB of online storage; mostly for image files). On the road, an Apple MacBook Pro with a 2.1GHz clock, 2GB RAM and 120GB internal hard drive is adequate.

As large a monitor as possible for that desktop computer.
A desktop photo editing tool capable of handling a canvas with at least 200 pixels per inch, up to the size of the final print.

A buffer inside a digital camera consists of RAM memory which temporarily holds the image information before it is written out to storage card. This speeds up the "time between shots" and allows burst (continuous) shooting mode.

Likewise, your scanner may not match the manufacturer's claims if your computer's processing speeds are slow or if too little computer RAM has been allocated to the scanner.

Burst mode - also know as 'continuous shooting mode' allows your DSLR to take multiple shots in quick succession. The speed - in frames per second - and total number of shots varies between DSLRs.

At any time, a tile may be in main memory, in the tile cache in RAM, or on disk. Tiles which are currently being worked on are in main memory. Tiles which have been used recently are in RAM.

There are also rechargeable alkaline battery often referred to as RAM cell or Rechargeable Alkaline Manganese cell but this is not recommended for digital cameras. This rechargeable alkaline has lower energy capacity than standard alkaline.

When your system does not have enough RAM to perform an operation, Photoshop and ImageReady use a proprietary virtual memory technology, also called scratch disks. A scratch disk is any drive or a partition of a drive with free memory.

These flash memory cards store your image files on memory chips that are similar to the RAM chips used inside your computer but there is one important difference. They require no batteries and don't loose images when the power is turned off.

[There are many type of Memory: Flash Memory, RAM, Memory Card, Memory Stick (Sony Branded Memory Card), ROM. Each have their very specific uses. The hard drive stores all of your information...even when it is off.

Refers to your digital cameras RAM, which temporarily holds onto data before writing it to your memory card. The bigger your cameras buffer, the more data it can process at high speed, allowing for faster continuous shooting (burst) rates.

In the world of marketing digital cameras, megapixels seem to be the beginning and end of a camera's power. Like a computer's RAM and hard drive, "the more, the better," and all of the other features of a camera fall by the roadside.

Hard disk - An internal data storage device made of hard aluminium disks coated with iron oxide. Most commonly used inside computers, hard disks have a much larger data capacity for a given price than flash RAM.

RAM - Random Access Memory Stores digital information temporarily and can be changed as required. It constitutes the basic (read/write) storage element in a computer.
