Memory cards such as CompactFlash, SmartMedia or MemoryStick that are used in digital cameras to store images.

Removable media: Memory cards. Compact Flash and Smartmedia were the original types.

Removable media. Storage media that can be removed from the camera.
Resolution, interpolated. A process that enlarges an image by adding extra pixels without actually capturing light from those pixels in the initial exposure.

Reproduction ratio. Used in macro photography to indicate the magnification of a subject.

Digital cameras have removable media (or memory cards), much like floppy disks, in lieu of film. This means when you take pictures, the digital camera creates a file and saves it to this media.

Buffer Ram is used to store images whilst they are recorded onto the much slower removable media card. This allows cameras to take a number of shots in rapid succession without waiting for the previous image(s) to be written to the card.

The Apple Macintosh, which popularized the format in 1984, began to move away from it in 1998 with the iMac model-possibly prematurely, since the basic model iMac of the time only had a CD-ROM drive, giving users no easy access to removable media.
