Reversal film
Techniques Glossary Reversal film
A film to produces transparencies that are viewed with projected light.

COLOR REVERSAL FILM PROCESSING Color transparency film forms dyes according to a reversed silver positive; for example, a yellow dye image forms in the top emulsion that corresponds to an absence of blue in the original scene.

Reversal film
Film or paper designed to produce a positive directly from exposure and processing, without the need of a negative.
(see Exposure & Trannie) ...

Reversal film. Photographic film that produces a positive image (transparency/slide) upon exposure and development.
Rewind crank. A device, usually on the top of the camera, for winding film back into a cassette once it has been exposed.

Reversal Film: A type of film that produces positive images by being reversed from negative images during processing. Colour slide films are reversal films.

Reversal film
Film that produces a positive image (transparency) on exposure and development.

Reversal film.
Slide film. In other words, film that yields a positive image when developed.
cf. negative.

Color reversal film after development is called a transparency and can be viewed directly using a loupe or projector. Reversal film mounted with plastic or cardboard for projection is often called a slide. It is also often marketed as "slide" film.

Color Reversal Film Processing.-
The processing of Kodachrome films (the K- 14 process) is relatively complicated and can be carried out only in licensed laboratories with special equipment.

Colour Reversal Film
Colour reversal or slide film is available at similar speeds to Black & White negative film. but only has a latitude of about 1/2 stop. There are many types available and all strive for neutral balance, though few acheive it.

These are color reversal films. Again, in general, the lower the ISO the finer the grain, and the lower the contrast. Recently, new film emulsions in the ISO 50 to ISO 100 range have been released.

Transparency or Reversal Film
Over Exposure. Loss of highlight detail. Bright areas will 'burn out' leaving just a clear section of film . When it's gone it's gone.

Velvia, however, is a very high contrast and high color saturation film, rather unlike most other reversal films. And these facts get lost in that single ISO 50 rating.

In reversal films and original monochrome images, the color layers are reversed by chemical reversal to give the final positive image.

Fuji 4x5 films : A new generation of daylight-type color reversal film offering the finest grain of any color reversal emulsion now available. Ideal for a wide range of professional applications, from product photography and landscapes to portraits ..

SLIDE FILM - Film used in making slides. Also known as "Transparency film," "Positive film" or "Reversal film."
SLOW FILM - Film with relatively low sensitivity to light - typically having a film speed in or lower than the ISO 50 range.
