Constructing the Rewind Knob
This knob can be completely separated from the camera when the outer shell and pinhole side of the camera are separated.
Usually rest around the pentaprism of the camera (but some were designed around the film rewind knob). It has an electrical contact which mated with a contact in the mounting foot of the flash unit.
You might have to hold the rewind knob while turning the lever. Another way is during time exposure in dim light. Set the shutter on B, press and lock the shutter using a cable release, and place your lens cap over the lens between exposures.
Performed a CLA, replaced the light seals, and replaced the rewind knob spring for $55 plus $7 for shipping. Great, friendly service and fast turnaround. Around 3 weeks, including shipping time. The old shutter sounds like a new one again.

camera and usually reat on top of the camera's pentaprism; others are separate items that you mount on the camera body when you need them. Some like the Nikon early professional camera has special dedicated which was designed around the rewind knob.
