Techniques Glossary SCSI (Small Computer Systems Interface) ...

SCSI - Small Computer System Interface. This is an old standard for connecting different devices to your personal computer. A SCSI interface can handle up to 7 devices at the same time.

SCSI Small Computer System Interface. A computer connection once commonly used and often preferred for digital imaging because of its high speed interface. SD Card Secure Digital, a type of card used in digital cameras to store images.

SCSI port. A port that’s faster than the serial and parallel ports but slower and harder to configure than the newer USB port. Also know as the Small Computer System Interface.

SCSI
(Small Computer System Interface) A high-speed input/output bus which is faster than serial and parallel ports but slower (and harder to configure) than USB and Firewire ports.

SCSI:
Short for small computer system interface; a defined standard for the connection of mass storage and other input/output devices to a computer. A scanner or printer may employ a SCSI interface in order to communicate with a computer.

SCSI - A high-speed input/output bus used mainly in Macintosh computers but also popular in many high-end PCs. Abbreviation for Small Computer Systems Interface.

SCSI
Small Computer Serial Interface. A system of connecting a chain of computer peripherals to a computer.

SCSI chain
A chain that links SCSI devices on your system. A SCSI chain may include such devices as a scanner, a CD-ROM drive, an external hard drive, and a tape drive.

SCSI Port
Small Computer System Interface. Pronounced "scuzzy," SCSI is a parallel interface standard used by Apple Macintosh computers (excluding certain early Macs and recent iMacs), PCs, ...

SCSI
Simple Computer Serial Interface. A card installed internally in a PC to interface the computer with an external device such as a scanner.

SCSI
Small Computer System Interface, is an interface for connecting peripherals to computers that allows the daisy-chaining of such devices.

SCSI port - Small Computer System Interface A port that's faster than the serial and parallel ports, harder to configure than the newer USB port. Mostly used for fast disk connections.

Because of the enormous amount of data involved in electronic imaging, information is passed through a SCSI. A SCSI is a special kind of parallel interface that allows for faster data transmission.

For those used to high-performance SCSI drives or RAID arrays, image retrieval will be slower. You can of course use these drives in RAID arrays, but that requires more work.

Including both SCSI-2 and USB interfaces, 14-bit A/D conversion, and autofocus, this film scanner offers an excellent mix of professional functions.

Internally, It has a 3.5" SCSI hard drive. It connects up to machines via an external SCSI interface. It appears as a non-disk SCSI device, and can be accessed by a TWAIN-based plugin for Photoshop 3.

A port on the computer that is faster than a serial port but slower than SCSI, USB, or IEEE 1394 ports. Often used by printers and flash card readers.
Parallel runways:
Runways that are the same distance apart from each other at all points.

Small Computer Systems Interface (SCSI) - A computer industry interface standard used for connecting peripherals to personal computers.

Some digicams allows for a direct patch to the computer via parallel, serial or USB connection, or even use a SCSI adapter. Some even offer infrared download.

The 2000s were the DSLR decade. Those days are over. DSLRs are about as relevant today as dial-up modems and SCSI-conected scanners, ...

You needed to connect the camera directly to a computer with cables to transfer the images. Although most of today's cameras are capable of connecting through serial, parallel, SCSI, USB or FireWire connections, ...

This is also the standard used to transfer digital video into a PC for editing in packages like Adobe Premiere and it is very popular with high-end digital cameras and scanners, in the latter case it took over more and more of SCSI's reign ever ...
