Selenium cell - light sensitive cell used in many types of exposure meters. It generates electricity in direct proportion to the amount of light falling upon its surface.

A selenium cell generates electricity in proportion to the amount of light falling upon its surface. A cadmium sulfide cell offers a resistance to a small electric charge when light falls upon it.
