Sepia Photography Tips
Because sepia tone softens the light in a photo, you'll get the best results with an image that's exposed well, with good contrast and a fairly full range of shades of white, gray and black.
Sepia Tone History
Originally made from the Sepia cuttlefish, sepia pigment was used to treat printed photos to make them more durable.
Ask for sepia tone printing. When giving that film for exposing/developing/printing, tell them that you want the pictures to be printed in sepia tone (or any other single color). You can even get green, red, blue, orange, any shade.

Creating Sepia Toned Images From Film
There are a couple of different methods for creating sepia toned images from film.
Sepia Toning Using Hue/Saturation
This is the quickest and easiest toning technique there is. You can tone your photo virtually any colour that you like in just a few seconds.
Sepia A brownish colored, old-fashioned look to an image often created as a special effect either within a digital camera or in an image editing software.
Sharpness - The clarity of detail in a photo.

Describing the shades of brown found in the pictures from very early in photography, the term is also used as a special effect on some digital cameras, which converts the existing image into shades of brown.

Black & White or Sepia tones in Portrait Photography
Decades ago, it used to be all the rage to use sepia-tone prints in portrait photography. Nowadays, you'll find more variety in creative color imaging than that.
