Sheet film

Shift
Movement on large format camera (or special "shift lens" in other formats) which can eliminate converging angles.

Sheet film. Film supplied as individual sheets, usually 10 or 25 to a box.
Short-focal-length lens (wide angle). A lens that provides a wide angle of view of a scene, including more of the subject area than does a lens of normal focal length.

SHEET FILM - Piece of film sized for one exposure in a view camera.
SHOOT - As a verb, to "shoot" is to take a picture. As a noun, a "shoot" is a photography session.
SHOOTING DISTANCE - The distance from the camera to the subject.

Sheet film
Film that is cut into individual flat piece. Used in large format view camera, with sizes like 4x5, 8x10 and 11x14 inches. Also called cut film.
Shelf life
Is the length of time unused material or chemicals will remain fresh.

Recommended Procedures for Paper and Sheet Film
First Exposure. -
Whether one solarizes paper or film, the initial exposure is very important, inasmuch as it determines the overall nature of the final image.

The technique was created for use with sheet film, where control over each shot, from exposure to development through to the final print, was total. However, the basic principle is relevant to whatever media you photograph with.

Sheet film: Individual pieces of film also known as cut film.
Shutter: Mechanical device used to control the time that light is allowed to expose film or paper. Two main types are between-the-lens shutter and focal plane shutter.

A Large format film camera uses sheet film as large as 8 x 10 inches
can produce good pictures with fairly good colour and contrast. For better results with indoor photography using compact cameras try 400 ISO films.

The film plane (back) and the lens plane of the view camera can be raised, lowered, tilted front-to-back, and swung side-to-side. This allows for the aforementioned image control. View cameras usually use 4 × 5 or larger sheet film.

Sheet film is loaded into film holders that are put in the back of the camera. Electronic imaging cameras automatically go to the next free space on the storage medium.
