Shutter release
A button that's usually found on the right-hand side of the camera that you press to take a picture. Most cameras have a two stage release.

Shutter Speed
Although, as discussed in exposure, the shutter speeds and apertures are interchangeable as far as exposure is concerned, they each have their own unique effect on the picture.

Shutter drive and control systemsEdit
From the control aspect, there are these different kinds of shutter systems in classical cameras. Things here are somewhat simplified for brevity.

The optimal shutterspeed depends on the situation. A useful rule of thumb is to shoot with a shutterspeed above 1/(focal length) to avoid blurring due to camera shake. Below that speed a tripod or image stabilization is needed.

Comp Image ShutterPoint allows downloading of small images that can assist designers in many ways before a purchase is made.

What makes this digital SLR camera shutter sound?
The noise is made from the sound of your digital cameras mirror flipping up to allow light in on the sensor and from the shutter opening.

Lastly - don't press the shutter with the very tip of your finger - rather use the flat part of it so that the end section of your finger is almost horizontal at the time of releasing the shutter (as pictured).

Shutter technique
In ancient times a photographer would load his camera, remove the lens cap, time the exposure and put the lens cap back on.

Shutter Speed
The shutter on the camera is what controls how much light is allowed to expose the film or, in the case of digital photography, how much light is allowed to hit the sensor.

Shutter Speed & Aperture Relationship
Notice also that the shutter speed changed as you stopped down your lens. At f/1.8 you needed 1/6000th of a second to keep the light from overexposing your image.

Shutter Lag
For anyone who has used a point-and-shoot camera, shutter lag should be pretty familiar. You press the shutter button and a short period of time elapses before the exposure is actually made.

Shutter speed and shooting motion
The most common reason people play with shutter speeds is to capture motion. You can blur a train to emphasize its speed or freeze an Olympic swimmer in mid air. Long exposure (i.e.

Shutter Speed
Refers to the amount of time light is exposed to the sensor
Values range from 30 to 1/8000th of a second, depending on your camera
As you rotate the dial, values change in 1/3 steps, eg. 1.3, 1.6, 2, 2.

Shutter Speed
Shutter Speed, measured in seconds, refers to the length of time that the camera's shutter remains open to let light in through the lens to record a given image onto the film.

Shutter Speed
Now let's turn to shutter speed. Depending on the make and model, your camera may offer shutter speeds from a blazingly fast 1/8000s all the way down to 30 seconds.

Shutter Speed The next thing that would change how much water got into the bucket is how long the faucet was open. If the faucet is open for a small fraction of a second, it will provide less water than if the faucet was open for half a minute.

Shutter speed will not affect a subject which is completely static
Landscape
Landscapes are fairly static but wind will move clouds, grass, leaves etc 1/30th of a second if you want it still. Less if you want a bit of life in it.

A shutter actuation is just another name for one shutter cycle. The number of actuations that a particular camera has completed is referred to as its "shutter count". The term generally arises when discussing used cameras, i.e.

First the shutter opens and starts exposing the ambient light. At the same time, the flash fires, illuminating and properly exposing the subject.

Use a slow shutter speed (say 1/60 or lower) if you want to introduce some blur in the picture to display speed in the subject.

speed dial, the top part of the fraction (numerator) is not indicated; for example, the shutter speeds 1/60, 1/125, 1/250, and so forth, are indicated as 60, 125, and 250.

There is one small drawback to using Aperture and Shutter Priority modes though: it's hard to switch between them.

You don't want to apply any pressure, as the shutter curtain is fragile and easily bent and destroyed. Keep lightly rubbing the swab back and forth until the oil is entirely gone.

Shutterspeeds and Undesired Movement
The ability to use different shutterspeeds to blur waterfalls is great. It allows photographers to create different moods in waterfall images. However, a problem arises.

Shutter Speeds
The shutter is a mechanical shade in the back center of the camera directly in front of the frame of film you are shooting. When the button on the camera to take a picture is pressed this shade opens for a fraction of a second.

Shutter speed
Express how long the sensor is exposed to light. When you push the shutter-button the shutter between the camera and lens opens up, and the light have free way to the sensor.

Shutter Speed
Shutter speed refers to the time the shutter remains open to expose the film to light from the lens. By today's standards, the pioneering days of photography produced film that was not very sensitive to light.

Shutter Speed
The first thing that you need to understand for action photography is the use of shutter speed or exposure length. We need to have the shutter fast enough to capture the motion. The settings differ from photo to photo.

Shutter Speed
Shutter speed controls how long light hits the film or electronic sensors during an exposure. To freeze fast-moving subjects, use the highest shutter speed possible.

shutter speed
Controlling the shutter speed can also allow you to change the feel of a photo - for example, you may want a fast shutter speed to capture fast action, sports, ...

Shutter Speed
First, your camera must be able to keep the shutter open for a few (3 or more) seconds of exposure since you want to capture both the initial explosion as well as the luminous trails created by the falling burning particles.

Shutter Priority An exposure mode on an automatic or autofocus camera that lets you select the desired shutter speed; the camera sets the aperture for proper exposure.

Shutter speed
The time in which the shutter stays open to light, measured in fractions of seconds, (1/8000th a second is a very fast shutter speed and 1/2 second is very slow).

Shutter - This is the mechanism on the camera that can open and close to introduce light to the image sensor and/or film.
Shutter Lag - This is the wait time between pressing the shutter release button and the mechanism actually working.

Shutter Lag. Shutter lag due to auto-focus in both digital and film cameras can make action shots difficult. By switching off the auto-focus, the shutter lag usually becomes significantly shorter.

SHUTTER - A movable cover for an opening. In photography, that opening is the lens - more specifically, the aperture.

Shutter Release The button that is fully depressed to release the shutter. With the latest cameras, lightly pressing the shutter button activates the exposure meter and starts the autofocus operation.

Shutter speed - make sure your shutter speed is sufficient to free their motion. Shoot a slow-moving school at 1/100th of a second. Adjust the speed as needed if they are moving faster (speed up your shutter speed for faster moving fish).

Shutter speed range:
A range of 1-1/1000 of a second is the minimum to look for. Most cameras made today offer speeds of 30 seconds to a fast 1/8000 sec. You will rarely need anything faster than 1/1000 sec.

Shutter - mechanical device which regulates the time light is allowed to act on photographic film [In the darkroom, this is like the timer that regulates how long the light will be allowed to act on the photo paper.

Shutter Speed is a measurement of how long its shutter remains open as the picture is taken. The slower the shutter speed, the longer the exposure time.
