Sky filter - outdated term for a filter which has a graduated density across its surface.
Sky shade - alternative term for a lens hood.

"puplet" said above that they were noticing a full stop difference in light when using a UV or Sky filter, you probably need a new meter. No way you should get that type of result even with inexpensive filters.

A standard accessory for the film camera, the sky filter's ability to reduce excess blue in outdoor shots is largely handled by a digicam's white balance. Can be used to protect lens from dust, fingerprints etc..
