Sodium thiosulfate
The active ingredient in most fixer.
Soft focus lens
Is a lens, uncorrected for spherical aberrations, used to produce a soft focus effect.

Sodium thiosulfate - chemical used in many fixing solutions. It converts unused halides to a soluble complex which can be removed by washing.

He discovered sodium thiosulfate to be a solvent of silver halides in 1819, and informed Talbot and Daguerre of his discovery that this "hyposulphite of soda" ("hypo") could be used as a photographic fixer, to "fix" pictures and make them permanent, ...

Sodium and ammonium thiosulfate changes undeveloped silver halide to soluble silver sodium thiosulfate. It removes this compound from the emulsion and refills the space it occupied with nonexhausted fixing solution.

These fixers will work much more quickly than a conventional sodium thiosulfate formula (Kodak Fixer). The ammomum thiosulfate will allow you to fix T-MAX films properly in 5-6 minutes in fresh fix - conventional fixers will take OVER 10 minutes.

HYPO - A fixing bath composed of various chemicals including sodium thiosulfate and water.

Fixer (Hypo)-A chemical, sodium thiosulfate, used to remove residual silver halides (grain) from films and prints when processing them. Fixer "fixes" the remaining silver halides in place on either film or prints. Fixer is also called hypo.

of sodium thiosulfate (Na2S2O3.5H2O) and 15 g. of anhydrous sodium sulfite (Na2SO3) in 1 liter of water can be used as the fixer.

Chemical (basically a solution of sodium thiosulfate plus potassium metabisulfite as acidifier). Used after development to make soluble those parts of a photographic image unaffected by the developer.

a chemical solution containing sodium thiosulfate and diluted acetic acid that renders photographic images on film or paper permanent, upon immersion for the prescribed time by removing unexposed silver halides; also refer to hypo.

Hypo The name for a fixing bath made from sodium thiosulfate, other chemicals, and water; often used as a synonym for fixing bath.

-Hypo - common name for a fixing agent, derived from an abbreviation of hyposulfite of soda, the misnomer applied to sodium thiosulfate during the 19th century.
