SPECTRAL SENSITIVITY - The relative response of a light-sensitive emulsion to wavelengths in the electromagnetic spectrum.
SPEED - A measure of the sensitivity to light of a photographic emulsion.

spectral sensitivity:
The relationship between the radiant sensitivity and the wavelength of incident light.
speed: ...

[edit] Spectral sensitivity
Early photographic plates and films were sensitive to blue light only. Hermann Wilhelm Vogel discovered that the spectral sensitivity could be extended by dye sensitization.

COLOR TEMPERATURE The color temperature of light used to expose the color material must match the spectral sensitivity of the color material.

T-Max films have a different spectral sensitivity than most other panchromatic films. They "see" colors in a way that is closer to human eyesight. There may be some differences in filter factors with T-MAX films.

-Wedge spectrogram is an indication of the spectral sensitivity of a sensitized material by exposing it to a spectrum of light through a graduated gray wedge.

Many also let you do things like produce conversions with the 'looks' of real black-and-white films or even create your own 'film' spectral sensitivity, add realistic film grain, ...

Expression of the nature of a photographic emulsion's response to light. Can be concerned with degree of sensitivity as expressed by film speed or response to light of various colours (spectral sensitivity).
