@ darlaj: the spots you're mentioning sound like dust on your sensor and not something that's wrong with your lens. They're easiest to notice on clear blue sky shots. Try your camera with another lens and see if the spots are still there.

There are Four Spots where these lines cross the Upper Left the Lower Left, the Upper Right and the Lower Left . You will note that all these 'Golden Means' spots are away from the center Bull's Eye position in the picture frame.

Eliminate Hot Spots. Any highly reflective surface behind your subject, such as glass or mirrors, will reflect the flash back to the camera's lens where it is recorded onto the film. This will result in hot spots on your images.

Bridges are good spots for vistas and panoramic shots and, if possible, find a high building and shoot skylines - don’t forget to ask permission.

3. Healing dust spots
Add a new Layer and choose the Spot Healing Brush. Choose a soft brush, check Proximity Match and All Layers. Zoom in to the image and use the brush at a small size to dab over all the small marks and dust spots.

There are two main causes for having "spots" in your digital images. The main one is that dust is naturally attracted to the CCD.

The Bottom Line Don't worry too much about a few dust spots in your digital images. Often, they will not be visible, except in sky areas or in other light-toned subjects.
