Spyder2PRO is the same as Spyder2 Suite, but it also includes printer profiling software (PrintFIX). It does not include a reflective colorimeter (a "Printer Spyder" if you will).

The Spyder sensor has a pull out honeycomb. You leave the honeycomb in for LCDs and laptops and take it out for conventional CRTs. The honeycomb restricts the angle of acceptance so it's not fooled by the color variations seen from the sides of LCDs.

NOTE: The Monitor Spyder and PhotoCal/OptiCal are designed for the calibration of CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) monitors, ...

One way to do this is described in this Spyder Review. If you don't make sure you really see what you will get from the photo lab, you might be surprised when the pictures come back.

After starting up the profiling software, the colorimeter (also commonly referred to as a "spyder" or "puck") is then stuck to the monitor face where indicated and its cable plugged into a USB port.

Basically I calibrated my macbook pro's LCD with Spyder3 Elite and my Eizo CG222W with it's own software. Lightroom 2 in dual monitor mode was working fine.

A number of tools on the market perform this function effectively and relatively painlessly, including Datacolor Spyder3 Elite, Pantone hueyPRO and X-Rite ColorMunki.

For the purpose of this article I utilized the new ColorVision Spyder2 Express, a very inexpensive calibrator that's aimed at folks who are new to color management (I assume this means you).

Common calibration devices include the X-Rite Eye-One Display, ColorVision Spyder, ColorEyes Display and ColorMunki Photo, amongst others.

The Spyder2 Suite by ColorVision offers both monitor and printer profiling for about $150 at the time of this publishing. These devices include step-by-step tutorials in profiling your system for the best possible results.

It'll be the poor and lazy man's approach, and won't get you the hi-fidelity results you can achieve using professional monitors, IT8 targets, colorimeters, spyders, and other widgets like that -- but it'll be good enough to get the job done, ...

Adobe products include a simple calibration tool, but for the most accurate work, consider a monitor profiling tool such as the ColorVision Spyder.
