Image stabilization
Camerashake is one of the major reasons for unsharp images. Not every photographer can hold a camera steady at slower shutter speeds.

Image stabilization
The optical image stabilization system used on the Coolpix P5100 is based on the VR (Vibration Reduction) lens-shift technology first seen on Nikon's professional SLR lenses, and seen on previous models such as the P3 and P4.

Image Stabilization (IS) - does it work? Is it worth it?
One of the most popular questions asked on web photography forums is some variation on "what should I buy" and "Is it worth it".

Image Stabilization
Click to explore how image stabilization reduces but doesn't eliminate blur caused by camera movement.
A tripod is a necessity for some kinds of photography.

Stabilization
For someone who likes to photograph sports, wildlife and other things that are typically far away, a telephoto lens is essential.

Image Stabilization/ Wide Aperture
Both are extremely desirable but may be outside your budget. With an equivalent focal length of 480mm (300mm * 1.6), a shutter speed of 1/500s or faster is required for handheld shooting.

Image Stabilization
IS (Image Stabilization) is a gyroscopic technology that has been incorporated into many high-end SLR lenses to reduce camera shake on longer focal length lenses, or when the camera isn't stable enough for crisp, sharp photos.

Image Stabilization
As I mentioned in earlier, image stabilization is designed to minimize or even eliminate blurred images due to camera movement when telephoto lenses are hand held.

Image stabilization camera lenses can make your pictures better
Most companies offer camera lenses with image stabilization technologies. Each company has its own proprietary system, but the principle remains the same.

Image stabilization - This is an option that uses shake resistant lenses in your camera. This can avoid blurry images due to hand movement.

Image stabilization
Is a useful feature found in many new cameras. Image stabilization can either be implemented in the camera itself or in lenses for DSLR.

One factor, which may be the biggest difference between basic DSLRs is the image stabilization system used.

IMAGE STABILIZATION
A feature that reduces the blurring of images that occurs as a result of camera shake when taking hand-held shots, particularly at slow shutter speeds.

image stabilization:
Image stabilization, IS in short, helps to steady the image projected into the camera to compensate for hand shake.

Image Stabilization
This may be called Image Stabilization, Vibration Reduction, Anti-Shake, Anti-Blur or something similar. There are three main types of image stabilization.

Image Stabilization (IS). An optical or digital system built in to a lens for removing or reducing camera movement, most effective with telephoto or telephoto zoom lenses.

Image Stabilization (IS) - An optical system for removing or reducing camera movement in zoom lenses. Using gyroscopes an internal lens is moved around to counteract the movement of the camera.

Image stabilization. A technology that compensates for camera shake, usually by adjusting the position of the camera sensor or lens elements in response to movements of the camera.

Image Stabilization (See Anti Shake)
Inkjet
A printing method where the printer sprays ionized ink at a sheet of paper. Magnetized plates in the ink's path direct the ink onto the paper in the desired shapes and patterns to make an image.

Stabilization - alternative method of fixing. Unused halides are converted to near stable compounds, insensitive to light. No washing is required.

Gyro Stabilization System
This equipment is often found in airplanes and helicopters to which you attach your camera to keep it steady while shooting aerial photography.
IEEE-1284 ...

Image Stabilization (IS)
Optical image stabilization utilizes gyroscopic sensors within the lens to detect and compensate for motion or "camera shake.

Image stabilization
Some cameras offer a system to reduce camera shake either through controlling movements on the CCD or elements within the zoom lens.

Image stabilization lenses, if you can afford them, go a long way to helping wildlife photographers get sharp pictures in low light. They minimize camera movement when you hand hold them, which in turn gives you more flexibility in your shooting.

Image stabilization is a technique used to reduce image blur caused by the camera not being held steady. There are two kinds of image stabilization used in SLR and DSLR cameras and their lenses: ...

Image Stabilization is AWESOME. You might think it's just some fancy feature that will not make a difference. But I'd disagree. Especially on indoor photography, it makes a HUGE difference. Here's why: ...

Image stabilization or IS is a Canon technology that optically corrects for camera motion when you take a photo.

Aperture
Also refered to as f/stop, f/value, aperture value. The size the lens opens to allow in light. A large aperture is denoted by a small number, e.g. F1.8, while a small aperture is denoted by a large number, e.g. F16.

Simple Stabilization
When shooting telephoto lenses, I often use the lens or camera strap as a device to help stabilize the camera.

Image Stabilization or Vibration Reducing: A lens with an internal system to detect camera shake and compensate for it.
Internal Flash. A flash integrated into the body of the camera, usually on the top.

Electronic image stabilization is a common feature on digital camcorders. By reducing the size of the image, it reduces the impact of hand movement while you're shooting.

Tripods and image stabilization - two examples that design and technology greatly benefit photography. My tripod is an extension of myself when I’m out in the field.

The JX200 features a high-quality Fujinon 5x optical zoom with 28mm wide-angle lens, plus there's Digital Image Stabilization to ensure image blurring is kept to a minimum. The concept of a point-&-shoot camera is to be simple.

Faster than the 24-105 but no image stabilization.
Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM Lens - often compared with the 24-70mm this lens is not as fast but has image stabilization and an extra 35mm reach. A worthy contender for a great walk around lens.

Finding a lens with Image stabilization is often a good idea. Image stabilization can mean the difference between getting a sharp or blurred shot. This is especially important if you will be hand holding your DSLR camera.

...

Recently, a new system called "anti-shake" technology (sometimes known as "image-stabilization") has begun to appear on cameras, and it has made great strides in providing sharper photos even at substantially slower shutter speeds.

Turn on vibration reduction (also called "image stabilization", depending on the manufacturer), if you have it. When VR/IS is on, the lens element(s) or image sensor move so that the image stays in place when projected onto the sensor.

As horrible as this may sound in this day of auto exposure, auto focus, auto image stabilization, and auto white balance, when it comes to printing, ...

I might not need it though as with the Image Stabilization on my 70-200mm lens, I can shoot handheld down to 1/30sec and still get sharp shots. Also, I want to try shooting at higher ISOs; I usually stick at 100 or 200.

Hybrid VR A combination of Lens Shift and Electronic Vibration Reduction for image stabilization. Found in Nikon COOLPIX cameras. Find out more.

Anti-Shake or Image Stabilization: Minimizes the effect of camera shake by eliminating the blur to deliver clean and crisp images every time.

The top-of-the-line in Canon's A series of compacts, the A650 IS features a 12MP sensor like the G9, with a 6x optical zoom, 4x digital zoom and optical stabilization.

The effects of camera shake is mitigated by the work of Optical SteadyShot™ image stabilization and High ISO sensitivity, thus reducing blue and allows for flash free shooting to maintain the frame of mind.
