Standard lens
A lens that makes the image in a photo appear in perspective similar to the original scene. It has a focal length approximately equal to the diagonal of the film format with which it is used (e.g. 50mm with 35mm cameras).

Standard lens
Lens with a focal length approximately equal to the diagonal of the film format with which it is used.

Standard lens:
The most "Disliked" lens is probably the 50mm standard lens (also called normal lens). I have heard people calling this lens boring, useless, among other things.

A standard lens such as the Nikonos 35 mm will cover an area of about 90 times the area of a 35 mm transparency at a distance of about three feet, Obviously, if you fit a close‑up lens or extension tube to the primary lens, ...

With a standard lens, the formula for depth of focus is:
(Focal length x F-stop setting) / 1000

Unlike a standard lens, a binary zone plate produces subsidiary intensity maxima along the axis of the plate at odd fractions (f/3, f/5, f/7, etc.), though these are less intense than the principal focus.

A normal or standard lens is light in weight and approximates the perspective of the human eye. Normal lenses have large maximum apertures, indicated by small f-numbers such as f/1.4 or f/1.8, and thereby gather much more light than zoom lenses.

Unifocal standard lens is dustproof, waterproof Pentax today announced the Pentax-D FA 645 55mm f/2.8 AL[IF] SDM AW, the first lens designed for use with the just-announced Pentax 645d medium-format DSLR. No plans to sell it in the U.S., though.

This common fault can result from the photographer standing too far away from their subject when they take a picture, or the fact that normal focal length or standard lenses cover a relatively wide angle of view.

In case of 35mm-format cameras, lenses with a focal length of near 50mm are called normal or standard lenses.

Standard lenses offer angle of view nearly equivalent to that of the human eye for general photography.

We use a standard lens to mimic the human angle of view. We find it easier to accept these pictures with our subconscious mind as depicting reality, since we are used to this angle. Our own vision correlates well.

In addition, the standard lens port is threaded so that accessory macro and wide-angle lenses from Sea & Sea and Inon can be screwed on above or below the surface.

As you may have noticed, I didn't discuss the standard lens here. For sure, that is not because I never use it! It can be the perfect lens for a given situation: neither too wide nor too compressed.

Standard lenses require you to think more about the shot you're planning and move to get a good angle and distance, but they take quality pictures and the process involved helps you learn to compose better shots.

A Wide-angle Lens has a shorter focal length, compared to a standard lens. This enables you to capture a comparatively wider angle of view. A wide-angle lens is a natural choice for capturing landscapes, outdoors, and group portraits.

Lens Corrections automates correction of standard lens distortions, including geometric distortion, chromatic aberration and vignetting. This feature also can be used to adjust perspective and rotation.

Standard lenses change the direction of light through refraction, but DOE changes the light path through diffraction.

Wide-Angle Lens A lens of short focal length that provides a wider angle of view than human vision and standard lenses (in the 50mm focal length range).

To illustrate, I next swapped out the standard lens with a telephoto lens, moved back about 50 feet, and took a series of shots with the flash still activated.

No lens has the full range of settings; for example, the standard lens on a digital camera will range from about f/2 to about f/16. Notice that as the fstop number gets larger (f/8 to f/11, for example), the aperture size gets smaller.

8 for other focal lengthes between 24mm to 135mm are the standard lens speeds for 35mm format lenses. f2.8 is already fast lens speed when regarding medium format lenses. f1.4 is a standard lens speed for 16mm movie camera lenses.

Normal-focal-length lens (standard lens). A lens that provides about the same angle of view of a scene as the human eye and that does not unduly magnify or diminish the relative size of objects in the image.

50mm are called normal or standard lenses. Lenses with a focal length less than approx. 35mm are called wide angle lenses, and lenses with a focal length more than approx. 85mm are called telephoto lenses.

A lens that captures a larger field of view than a normal or standard lens. For full frame digital SLRs a standard lens is 50mm, any lens with a shorter focal length is normally referred to as wide-angle.

Flashguns are usually designed to cover the same angle as a standard lens, so when a wide angle lens is used you may find the edges of the frame are darker.

This lens does suffer from distortion at both the wide end and the long end, but resolution and sharpness-wise it is very well matched to the 21 Mp sensor (not to mention that it has a good range and is perfect as a everyday standard lens).

DO stands for Diffractive Optic, and although these are not inexpensive pieces of equipment, they are shorter than standard lenses and they also are designed to decrease chromatic aberration.

A setting on the camcorder that allows standard lenses to focus from less than and inch to approximately 1.2 metres.
Macro Lens
An extreme closeup lens.

Lens of relatively long focal length designed to provide a narrower angle of view than the normal or standard lens, which generally has an angle of view, expressed on the diagonal of the film format, ...

A lens that has an angle of view greater than that of a standard lens and that is considered of short focal length. This kind of lens is usually employed to include more of a subject within the confines of the image frame.

His standard lens is a Canon 600mm Æ'/4 lens planted securely on a Gitzo carbon-fiber tripod with a Wimberley tripod head, and even then, he sometimes adds a 1.4x or 2x teleconverter for added reach.

A cheaper option is to use close-up lenses or extension tubes that fit onto your standard lens.

These cameras come with a full complement of exposure options (including a manual exposure mode for more advanced shooters) and a heftier zoom range (in some cases 12X that of the standard lens).

For digital camera's this depends on the size of sensor.
Consider a Sigma 50mm f1.8 standard lens...
On a Nikon D70 this becomes a 75mm f1.8 - x1.5
On a Canon EOS 1D this becomes a 65mm f1.8 - x1.3
On a Canon EOS 20D this becomes a 80mm f1.8 - x1.6 ...

The lens focal length is expressed in millimeters, with 50mm being the focal length of a standard lens. Focal lengths above 50mm are considered telephoto, with the most common lenses offering a variable zoom between 85 and 200mm.

EF 50mm 1.4 USM.
Versatile standard lenses, useful in low light. These lenses contain micromotor USM mechanisms that unusually support full-time manual focussing.

This type of lens is not a symmetrical column or tube. The edges are flattened, which creates a much better image than a standard lens shape.

The particular lens I decided to use for this project is the cheapest Canon standard lenses, namely the Canon 50mm f/1.8 MKII.

On 35mm-format cameras, lenses with a focal length of 50mm are called normal or standard lenses. Lenses of 35mm or less are called wide angle lenses and lenses of 85mm or more are called telephoto lenses.

The main advantage of using a ring USM, is that the motor is built into the lens so that it can auto focus faster than a standard lens.

Some standards are 28-80mm and 70-200mm, with many shorter, longer, and in-between. Zooms are a good compromise when more than a fixed standard lens is needed. Having the two sizes above pretty much covers most needs.

Add-On Lens - Some lenses have filter threads on the front edge that allow you to mount an auxiliary wide angle or telephoto lens in addition to the standard lens.

I love photographing wild life (birds) and flowers and nature, and doing portraits, and my friends ask me to photograph their events, so I would really like a multi use camera.

And, there are many software programs available to automate the task. In this article, however, we'll assume that you have access to photo editing software like Adobe Photoshop and a digital camera with a standard lens.

Other zoom lenses have a separate zoom control ring that is turned to adjust the focal length. Rapidly replacing the 50mm lens as a standard lens, most standard zoom lenses have a focal length of from 35-70mm.

Had the lens been a standard lens with a smaller aperture, insufficient light would be available to use such a high shutter speed.

For intimate candid portraits show something of the person's surroundings by using a standard lens or wide-angle. Keep your camera ready and react to situations quickly and unobtrusively.
Kids tend to be quite natural in front of a camera.

I would recommend that the 50mm lens should be considered firstly as it can be carried and used as a normal standard lens in the field. Also, you can use extension tubes or bellows with these lens to get the magnification higher.
