If you use these stepping rings you probably won't be able to use a standard hood. I never use hoods so I don't worry. Lens coatings have made hoods obsolete for decades, except as prophylaxis (protection).
ADAPTER RING - Also called a "Stepping ring" - enables a filter of one size to be attached to a lens of another size.
ADDITIVE COLOR - Mixing colored lights to result in another light color.
Stepping rings can be bought to allow one size filter to fit on a different size thread. It's better to step up (use a filter with a larger thread than the lens) to avoid corners being cut off resulting in dark edges to your pictures.
You can however buy stepping rings which allow you to use larger filters on smaller lenses. This helps the wallet and also the weight of your back pack.
