Stop-Down MeteringEdit
Stop-down metering is a technique used in TTL systems where light measurements are made through the lens, set at the taking aperture.

Stop-down metering
TTL metering in which the light is measured at the picture-taking aperture. As the meter just measures the light passing through the lens, there is no need for any lens-camera interconnections.

What is stop-down metering?
Normally your EOS camera will meter the light using the widest aperture possible for the lens.

Because it lacks a meter coupling prong for cameras made before Automatic Indexing (1977), you'll need to use stop-down metering with Nikon's earliest 1959-1976 cameras, like the Nikon F of 1959 and early versions of the Nikon F2.

The K-7 has a KAF2 bayonet lens mount which can take lenses with a KAF3, KAF2, KAF or KA mount. There's no mechanical coupling to control the aperture on pre-A K-mount lenses, so it's stop-down metering only if you want to use older lenses.
