Strobe Lighting
Hey, just a quick Question, i got my new housing and strobe (both Ikelite) and when i take a photo with the flash, the photo is very dark or just black.
I have the Camera on Manual mode, just curious if you have any tips.

Strobe Light (film)
Special strobes can be used with motion pictures to freeze action frame by frame for scientific and other purposes. The lack-of-motion blur in each frame produces an unusual effect when the film is projected.

Strobe light - low power electronic flash that can fire repeatedly at regular, controlled intervals.
Studio camera - term given to a large format 12 x 15 inch camera on a wheeled stand.

Flash or strobe lights remain off until activated, and then flash once as you take the picture. They can be mounted to your camera or placed around the room and activated by remote.

To make a strobe light to appear directional, like the light of the sun, a grid is used.

If you use strobe lighting, you need strobes that can handle firing continuously at high frame rates and that 'freeze' motion more than continuous lighting would.
- Set up your camera.

The primary lighting setup in my studio consists of a set of strobe lights (constant lighting would not work because models are not perfectly still subjects, and the smallest shake or movement will affect the sharpness of the final image).

Once you have the subject and background you want, place the strobe light striking the cactus in the same direction as the sun.

Artful application of strobe light restores the brilliant color of the underwater world to digital pictures taken with point-and-shoot cameras.
No company offers more external strobe solutions for more digital point-and-shoot cameras than Ikelite.

Strobe light is created when a spark jumps through a tube of Xenon gas. This is the reason that the light has such a short duration, about 1/1000th of a second, but sometimes as shot as 1/50000th of a second.

SLAVE STROBE- If a camera does not have a flash sync socket or a hot shoe and you wish to use an auxiliary strobe light, you can get a slave strobe.

Strobe lighting was used on the darkened sets, for the aid of the talent in the studio.

Well, that brings us to strobe lights, the studio type, and in general, shooting digital is no different that shooting with film (there is an exception which I mention below).

To be able to control the lighting more effectively, I decided to use some strobe lighting units. First, I set up a StarFlash® 300 LiteDome® Kit and swapped out the LiteStand with a Boom and Boom Stand.

It’s finding the balance and equality between existing light and strobe light. You can control your strobe light but you can’t control your existing light. So if I’m outside at high noon, I need a fast shutter speed.

whats really cheap and cool is using a strobe light. By keeping a long exposure with a strobe light, you get a lot of ‘single' exposures within the whole photo.

If you've ever been in a dark room while a strobe light was flashing, you've probably noticed the phenomenon that light creates at each flash: Objects in the room seem frozen in time at each flash, ...

Originally, Trent didn't plan to show his Desisti and Profoto Acute strobe lights. He shot a standard business portrait using a telephoto lens on his Hasselblad H1 with Leaf Aptus 75 digital back tethered to a laptop.

Use a continuous light source rather than strobe lights.
With your camera on a tripod and your subject holding still, set shutter speeds of between 1 and 2 seconds.
Use a fan (or, better, an assistant) to move the muslin during the exposure.

One of them, LightBox, turns your device into a flashlight, magnifying glass, mirror or strobe light. Released Dec. 8, 2011, the 99-cent app has a five-star customer rating at the time of publication.

' Also, high powered strobe lights have a tendency to trip circuit breakers which get confused by the sudden surge of power. If you'll be using such lights, it will be necessary to provide some sort of power conditioning to avoid this problem.

This allows you to add finesse to the direction and quality of lighting. It's great lighting equipment for neophytes. They are lighter and less expensive than strobe lights.
