Sulphate

sulphate wood pulp paper pulp made from wood chips cooked under pressure in a solution of caustic soda and sodium sulphide. sulphite wood pulp paper pulp made from wood chips cooked under pressure in a solution of bisulphite of lime.

Barium sulphate/sulfate. This material is applied to certain types of black and white photographic paper prior to the application of the emulsion during the manufacturing process.

Ammonium persulphate: Chemical used in super-proportional reducers. It is inclined to precipitate in solution and give erratic results.

Once development is complete, the undeveloped silver salts must be removed by fixing in sodium thiosulphate or ammonium thiosulphate, and then the film or paper must be washed in clean water.

Solution, usually based on sodium thiosulphate, in which films or prints are immersed after development to convert the unexposed silver halides in the emulsion to soluble products that can be washed out.
