Swimming Pools
Occasionally, a swimming pool is a work of art by itself, as in the image at left (Hearst Castle, from the photo.net California guide).

Mental note: camera is not in waterproof housing. Do not forget. Repeat as necessary! Swimming pools are variable and the photo opportunities are harder to categorise.

At the end of the session we decided to shoot some pictures for fun in her swimming pool. Sofia is a beautiful woman, very elegant and natural, so I wanted to capture that side of her and this frame (above) really stood out.

This does not mean you can go ahead and dunk them in a swimming pool, but they do offer invaluable protection from water damage.

There are several different kinds available, window lights, 'swimming pools' etc, but the most useful, versatile and portable is the umbrella. They can be used to shoot through or to reflect the light.

Almost every photographer is thrilled when taking his or her first pictures under water, whether in a swimming pool or the ocean's depths. The rules change a bit when you're underwater, and you can find out how in this section.
