Cameras with a time lapse feature can be programmed to automatically shoot a number of frames over a period of time or with a certain time interval between each frame.

 


A time lapse is an effective way to show a large amount of time in literally seconds. They are very straight forward to make and can be very impressive.

Time lapse photography - method of recording chemical and physical changes in a subject over a period of time by photographing it at regular intervals from the same viewpoint.

A device to trigger a camera at set intervals, i.e. Time Lapse photography.

On this setting the shutter will stay open as long as you hold down the shutter release button. To make long time lapse images you'll need a shutter remote cable (if your camera is designed to use one).

I prefer to shoot many photos, so I can set it to shoot and just let it run till my batteries run dead and have a trail that spans many hours, plus you get a cool time lapse out of the same run.
