Transmitted Light
Light that has passed through a Transparent or Translucent material.
Transparencies
Slides or other images that are viewed by Transmitted Light or are projected.

Transmitted light - light which is passed through a transparent or translucent medium. The amount of light transmitted depends on the density of the medium through which it is passed and on the brightness of incident light source.

A layer or multiple layers of thin anti-reflective materials applied to the surface of lens elements to reduce light reflection (flare) and increase the amount of transmitted light.

The formula for opacity is given as follows: O = Amount of incident light Amount of transmitted light You can see that opacity is the transmission formula inverted.

(Davis, 1931): This simpler statement of the spectral-centroid relation might have been deduced by combining two previous findings, one by Gibson (see footnote 10, p. 12) concerning a spectral-centroid relation between incident and transmitted light ...

Transmittance (T) is defined as the ratio of transmitted light over incident light. It is usually expressed as a percent. So 1% transmittance means that 1/100th of the light got through a piece of film or a lens or whatever.

Thin anti-reflective materials applied to the surface of a lens in one or multiple layers, to help reduce light reflection and increase amount of transmitted light.

A positive photographic image on film, viewed or projected by transmitted light (light shining through film). A positive image on a transparent base, such as film or glass, viewed by transmitted rather than reflected light.

Lens Coating A layer or multiple layers of thin, anti-reflective materials applied to the surface of lens elements to reduce light reflection and increase the amount of transmitted light.

look-through
the appearance of paper when viewed by transmitted light, disclosing the texture of the sheet.
loom
a machine for weaving mesh or fabric from two series of yarns or threads crossing at right angles.

-Primary colors - three primary additive colors of the spectrum in terms of transmitted light. These colors are blue, green and red.
-Principal axis - imaginary line which passes through the center of curvature of all the lens elements.

With a polarizing filter attached, the ratio of reflected/transmitted light (fixed for non-polarized light) varies with the polarization plane orientation of polarized light, relative to the beam-splitter, ...

One example of transmitted light is colored glass. Another example is backlit, semitransparent objects such as a flower. As in the case of reflection, transmission is also tied to the process of absorption.

Diapositive
Photographic term: positive image produced on a transparent support for viewing by transmitted light, i.e. transparency.

Basically, slide film. A positive photographic image on film, viewed or projected by transmitted light (light shining through film).

Transparency A positive photographic image on film, viewed or projected by transmitted light (light shining through film).

Transparency: A positive photographic image viewed or projected by transmitted light. Colour slides are transparencies.

Two colours are complementary to one another if, when combined in the correct proportions, they form white light. The term is usually applied to the dye colours, which are complementary to the primary additive colours of transmitted light.

The amount of transmitted light is roughly dependent on the maximal aperture of the lens so the faster the lens the brighter is the viewfinder. Quality of pentaprism also matters and all-glass types usually provide brighter images.

So if you intend to use the binoculars at night, indoors or in dense woodland, choose a pair with a similar value exit pupil. In bright conditions the pupils contract to about 2 or 3 millimetres and in such conditions the extra transmitted light ...
