A term used to describe an image that has a bit depth similar to the response of the human eye and which is considered to represent color as seen through the human eye.
tritone
an image reproduced using three colors.
troy weight
a system of units of weight where the grain is the same as in the avoirdupois system and a pound contains 12 ounces, 240 pennyweights, or 5760 grains.
If you master duotones, Photoshop also supports Tritones (three colors) and Quadtones (four colors). Simply select how many colors you want to work with from the Duotone Options drop-down list.

I hope to add more tech details (like how I got the great tritones on the black-and-white prints) some other time.
I did it all in Aperture from DNGs (color) and film scans (B&W). Aperture works great with film scans, too! ...
