Vanishing point
Is the point at which parallel lines, viewed obliquely, appear to converge in the distance.

The Vanishing Point
Show depth and perspective
Let me give you my perspective on perspective.

Improvements in Vanishing Point to support multiple angle perspective planes. Useful for illustrators and designers certainly; less so for photographers.

Vanishing Point Perspective In vision, lines that are parallel to each other give the sensation of meeting at vanishing points.

I usually imagine the image (2 dimensions) with the vanishing point at infinity. About 1/2 the distance between your closest part of the image and that vanishing point on the image itself will about match that logarithmic scale.

Or if you position the end of a street or path as a vanishing point in the picture middle, a tunnel effect will occur. This will be further strengthened if you position yourself in the middle of the path and take photos in portrait format.

Obvious directional cues don't need much explaining. You want someone to look to the right you draw an arrowhead pointing to the right. You want someone to look at a certain spot you create a vanishing point in that spot.

Include the point where the lines meet - the 'vanishing point' - is also a good idea as it brings the composition to a satisfying conclusion.
Finally, lines don't actually have to be straight to work in a composition.
