Beginner cameras offer Vari-Program modes. This is the same as Program mode except you select the type of subject you are photographing and camera sets the exposure depending on the available light and lens being used.

Press and hold this button in Auto or one of the Vari-Program modes to display a page of help, this also works in the cameras menu system.
