Washing aid
A chemical solution used after fixing and washing the film or paper. It shortens the washing time by converting residues from the fixer into forms more easily dissolved by water. Also called hypo clearing agent.
Washing aid: Once the film is developed and fixed, you need to remove all the fixer/hypo from the film surface. This is achieved by washing the negative. A washing aid can reduce washing time.

EDTA, DTPA, and NTA are very often used as chelating agents in all processing solutions, particularly in developers and washing aid solutions. EDTA and other polyamine polycarboxylic acids are used as iron ligands in color bleach solutions.
