Techniques Glossary Wetting agent
Detergent type solution used after the film has had its final wash to lower the surface tension of water and prevent drying marks.

Wetting Agent
Wetting agents are a high-purity detergent, which acts to make water sheet off of film, rather than bead up. The most important thing about wash agents is getting the dilution correct.

WETTING AGENT - A chemical solution that lowers surface tension and causes film to dry faster and more evenly, thereby reducing the risk of water spots on the film.

wetting agent
(1) a chemical additive that reduces the surface tension of a fluid, inducing it to spread readily on a surface to which it is applied; (2) to additive to aid in the dispersion of pigment particles.

Wetting agent Chemical. (e.g. weak detergent) that reduces the surface tension of water. Facilitates even action of developer or final wash water.

Wetting agent
A chemical solution used after washing the film. By reducing the surface tension of the water remaining on the film, it speeds up drying and prevents water spots. Kodak version of this is called Photo-flo.

> WETTING AGENTS: Whether you're using a glass or Plexiglas dome, a wetting agent like Rain-X will facilitate the sheeting action of water and minimize unwanted water drops.

wetting agent is used to aid the drying process by preventing drops of water from forming on the film surface which can cause " drying marks".

Wetting agent: At the end, you need to hang the wet negatives up to dry. Sometimes, the water does not run off the negative but will form drops on the surface of the negative and will dry, leaving marks on the negative.

Wetting agents: Chemical used in the final rinse water to promote even drying of film.
Wide-angle lens: Lens with a focal length shorter than the diagonal of the film format.

Wetting agents are chemicals which, when used in minute quantities, reduce the surface tension of water. They are usually added to the final wash of films and plates to improve draining.

WETTING AGENT After washing, water often drains from film in an irregular manner, clinging to both emulsion and base sides in drops, streaks, and uneven patterns.

A common wetting agent for even drying of processed film uses Union Carbide/Dow Triton X-100 or octylphenol ethoxylate. This surfactant is also found to have estrogenic effect and possibly other harms to organisms including mammals.
