Wide-angle distortion. A change in perspective caused by using a wide-angle (short-focal-length) lens very close to a subject. Objects appear stretched out or farther apart than they really are.
With a flat film plane, 90° is about the widest field of view that can be captured with normal sharpness and without significant wide-angle distortion or light fall off by a traditional lens and camera using a single, flat piece of film.
What makes it special are its lack of wide-angle distortion (less than the G10), an extra-wide lens (just like the G10), huge 3" screen (looks the same as the G10), and especially its vastly improved handing over other excellent Canon compact cameras, ...
You may also encounter Spherical Aberration, or wide-angle distortion of your images.
