Alyssum are grown from seed. They can be directly seeded into your flower garden or seeded indoors for transplanting later. If planting outdoors, sow them after the soil has begun to warm in the spring.

Comments: Sweet Alyssum is an excellent low growing plant
useful for edging. The plants grow best in cool weather.
Provide full sun and a well-drained soil. In July or
August, when the plants are starting to go to seed, they
may be sheared back.

Details: Full sun to light shade, soil rich in lime. Very drought tolerant. Surface sow to no more than 1/8" deep in spring after danger of frost is past. Attracts Butterflies or Hummingbirds.

Plant alyssum, herbs from the dill family, and flowers from the daisy family. If you have a bird bath or pool in your garden, place stones in the water so lacewings have a place to land and drink safely.

Some that are most productive and beautiful includes cosmos, sweet alyssum, bachelor buttons, and larkspur. Plant them in drifts among the perennials. Follow the seed packet instructions and water often.
