Autumn sage is best in full sun in a well drained, somewhat sandy site. Like most dryland plants of the American southwest it resents heavy, wet soils in the winter.

Much-loved aromatic plants, the perennial and shrubby Sages are grown for their huge variety of flower colors and their long bloom. Colors include bright red, true blue, white, orange, purple, lavender and pink.

Description
Salvia is the largest genus in the mint family. This group of plants have approximately 900 species of annuals, perennials, and soft wooded shrubs.
Autumn Sage (Salvia greggii): These shrubby sages are becoming increasingly popular for their brilliant colors and drought tolerance. They bloom through the summer and heavily in autumn. They need excellent drainage and full sun.
Autumn sage varieties with coral flowers are spectacular and are becoming easier to find at mass market garden centers.
S. greggii is quite variable in nature, due to the crossing of many forms.
