Banksia - Handsome Australian plants, shrubs, and trees, at one time much grown under glass, some of them brilliant in flower. A few kinds are found to thrive in the open air in Devon and Dorset.

Banksia 'Waite Flame' is a variety (in the plant breeders' rights sense) of Banksia. A selected form of B. coccinea (Albany or Scarlet Banksia), it flowers early in the season and has a more orange-hued bloom than its parent species.

Description
'Rosa banksiae ‘Lutea' is a species rose from China that was introduced to Europe in 1824.

Rosa banksiae 'Lutea'
A standout in early spring, the fully double, 3/4", buttery yellow roses cover this large arching shrub or climbing rose giving the appearance of a yellow spirea or baby's breath.

Rosa banksiae "Lutea" or Lady Banks' Yellow Rose is a thornless rose which produces small round double-blossoms that look like pompoms. These fill the branches in May & peter out in early June.

Banksia speciosa is an imposing shrub or small tree whose flowers are often commercially used in cut-flower arrangements. The linear leaves may reach 18 inches wide, and are divided into small, triangular lobes.

In the extreme northeastern part of the province, another two-needled pine grows: jack pine (Pinus banksiana). Its cone scales have no prickles at the tip.
