MORETON BAY CHESTNUT, a tall tree known botanically as Castanospermum australe (natural order Leguminosae), native of Queensland and New South Wales. The pods are almost cylindrical, about 9 in.

3 (20)m, Canary Bay is a tall dense shrub to an impressive tree under favorable conditions in nature. Umbels of fragrant creamy white flowers on adult plants, followed by olive-like, shiny black fruits with a single, avocado-like seed each.

Laurus nobilis or Sweet Bay is a medium-sized evergreen tree whose branches used in garlands symbolizes victory or accomplishment.

Radford uses the term "pocosins" to describe one of the habitats for Loblolly Bay. A pocosin is a special type of wetland found from Virginia to northern Florida. The term is Algonquin for an upland swamp.
