Monarda (Beebalm or Horsemint)
Monarda or Horsemint are Sage like annuals or woody perennials with usually aromatic foliage and numerous funnel-shaped flowers in dense spikes throughout the summer until autumn.
Russell's beebalm is one of the dozen species of wild bergamot's found throughout much of North America. It occurs from southern Illinois to Texas, with the Arkansas River drainage making up a big part of its range.

Scarlet beebalm is native to parts of the Midwest and the south. It has escaped from gardens, and is occasionally found in the wild in Connecticut.
Mauve-flowered beebalm grows on dry hillsides and does well when planted among other tall flowers to conceal the spindly stems. Consider support from baby's breath and tall native daisies.

Beebalm is an herb and perennial native to Eastern North America, with a number of useful cultivars for the landscape.
Growers are always coming up with new cultivars of plants, including Beebalm. While most Beebalm are between two to three feet tall and wide, some are smaller and some are bigger.
On the other hand, if powdery mildew occurs in summer, when the beebalms are shorn down & infected parts discarded, the clumps can be expected to grow back so swiftly there'll be one more good bloom-period for early autumn.
