BUCHU, or Buka Leaves, the produce of several shrubby plants belonging to the genus Barosma (nat. order Rutaceae), natives of the Cape of Good Hope. The principal species, B.

 


Concentrated Buchu infusion (BPC 1954): 1:2.5 in 25% alcohol, 4-8ml

Additional Comments: Two other species are used medicinally - Barosma crenulata (oval Buchu) and B.serratifolia (long Buchu).

Round-Leaf Candyleaf [English]: Stevia ovata
Round-Leaf Cassia [English]: Chamaecrista rotundifolia
Round-Leaf Catchfly [English]: Silene rotundifolia ...

When used alone, it forms a useful remedy in all these complaints, its best action is seen, however, when compounded with other diuretics, such as Broom, Buchu leaves, Wild Carrot, Juniper Berries, Parsley Root and Pellitory-of-the-Wall.
