Description
Bulbine frutescens is native to desert grasslands in South Africa, this plant grows best in a well-drained soil and is also very tolerant of poor, dry soil.

Bulbine frutescens (Stalked Bulbine) - A succulent groundcover from southern coast of South Africa up to Mozambique.

Bulbinella angustifolia is a yellow flowered bulbous plant, with narrow strap-like leaves, growing up to 40 in (1 m) high, but usually less. The leaves are up 18 in (45 cm) long and up to 0.6 in (1.5 cm) wide.

Thick rosettes of upright to arching succulent foliage is topped by spikes of orange, red-hot poker-like flowers from spring through summer. This is a durable perennial for sunny locations.

However, Bulbine is sister to Alooideae, and then come other Asphodeloideae, including Kniphofia et al. and Eremurus et al.; the Asphodelus clade is sister to all the rest of the family (good support).
